What OUR PaTIENTS are saying

MEET OUR DOCTOR

Dr. Robert Lantzy

For Dr. Bob, the path to dentistry started long before dental school. He grew up in a family of seven, and when his older brother was injured in an accident that left him a quadriplegic, Bob was the one who often helped with his care at home. Watching the doctors who came through, and being trusted to help in small ways most kids never get to, planted something in him. By the time he finished high school at the University of Pittsburgh, he knew he wanted to spend his life helping people with his hands. His father was a carpenter, and that quiet patience for craft was already in his bones. Dentistry became the way he could put both to work.

Dr. Lantzy graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh and earned his dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1982. Over the past four decades, he has built a practice rooted in what he calls Complete Health Dentistry, the idea that the mouth is the front door to the rest of the body, and that a great dental team should be paying attention to all of it. His post-graduate training reflects that philosophy and includes the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Studies, the Spear Institute, the VIVOS Airway Institute, and certification in the Dale Bredesen Protocol for cognitive decline. He is a Certified RECODE and PRECODE Provider, a SMART-certified mercury removal dentist, and a member of the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health and the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. He performs CEREC same-day restorations, oral appliance therapy for sleep and airway, clear aligner treatment, implant restorations, and full-mouth rehabilitation.

Outside of the practice, Dr. Lantzy is deeply rooted in the Newtown community. He served as President of the Newtown Rotary Club in 2008 and has volunteered through Mission of Mercy outreach programs. He stays active through gardening, canoeing, camping, biking, and time with his grandchildren. He has ridden a century from New York City to Montauk and has supported causes like the MS Ride, Riders for a Cause, and Spokes for Hope through his time in the saddle. His motto, simply put, is thriving, not just surviving. That is how he lives, and that is what he hopes to help every patient do too.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What makes Dr. Lantzy different from other dentists in Bucks County?

Dr. Lantzy practices what is called Complete Health Dentistry, which means every visit looks beyond your teeth to how your mouth connects to your sleep, your heart, your brain, and your overall well-being. With over four decades of experience in Newtown, he and his team take the time to actually know you, build a care plan around your whole picture, and never rush you out the door.

Do you accept dental insurance?

We are out of network with all insurance carriers, which means the care we recommend is based on what you actually need, not what a carrier will pay for. About 98 percent of insurance plans still pay toward your visit even though we are out of network, and our team will walk you through your benefits and out-of-pocket cost before any treatment begins. For patients without insurance, we offer a simple membership plan that covers your hygiene visits and gives you a discount on other services.

Can I really get a crown in one visit?

Yes. We have been doing same-day crowns at our Newtown office since 2009 using CEREC technology, which means we scan your tooth, design the crown, and mill it right here in the office while you wait. The whole appointment takes about two hours from start to finish, and you walk out with the permanent crown bonded in place. No temporary, no second appointment, no waiting weeks for a lab.

Can a dentist help with snoring or sleep apnea?

Yes, and it is one of the things we are best known for. If your airway closes while you sleep, we can fit you with a small custom oral appliance that holds your lower jaw slightly forward and keeps the airway open through the night. Many patients prefer it to a CPAP machine, and we can also send you home with a sleep test you take in your own bed so we can understand exactly what is happening before recommending treatment.

What happens at my first visit?

Your first appointment with us is called the Healthy Mouth Baseline, and it is more thorough than what you may have experienced at other offices. We start by taking your blood pressure and pulse, going through your medical, dental, and sleep history, and then carefully examining your teeth, gums, jaw, and soft tissue. The whole visit usually runs about an hour and a half, and most patients tell us afterward they have never had a dental exam quite like it.

Are you a good fit for nervous or anxious patients?

We have spent decades caring for patients who have avoided the dentist for years, and we have built our entire experience around making you feel safe. From a front desk designed so we can walk out and greet you in person, to blankets, pillows, a massage chair in the main treatment room, and Dr. Lantzy's signature gentle injection technique, our goal is for you to leave saying that was easier than you expected. If you tell us you are nervous when you call, the whole team will know before you arrive.

Do you treat children, and at what age should they start coming in?

Yes, we care for patients of every age, from toddlers to grandparents. We recommend bringing your child in once their full set of baby teeth has come in, usually around age two, so we can guide good habits early and watch how their jaw and airway are developing. Catching crowding or breathing issues in early childhood opens up simple options that are not always available later, so an early visit can make a real difference in your child's long-term health.
